Calgary Family Intervention Model (CFIM)

A

Builds on a strengths and resiliency perspective by assisting in determining the domain of family functioning that predominantly needs changing. Has three domains cognitive, behavioural, and affective.

A

Involves recognizing reciprocity between the nurse’s ideas and opinions and the family’s illness experience. Finding an intervention that works collaboratively with the family and nurse.

Linear Questions

A

Are investigative and explore a family member’s descriptions or perceptions of a problem. Used to gather information about families’ problems. It is meant to inform the nurse and intended to correct behaviour.

A

Gives an understanding of problems and is aimed to reveal explanations of problems. Meant to facilitate behavioural change.

A

Generally considered the family’s ability to meet the needs of its members. This is about family functioning domains, questioning techniques, and nursing actions and interventions.
