5
Q

How are Fold Mountains Formed?

Through the collision of two tectonic plates. The sedimentary rocks that have built up between them are folded and forced upwards to form mountains.

6
Q

How are Ocean Trenches Formed?

A

Through subduction. Causing sea-floor and outer most crust to bend and form a steep v-shaped depression.

7
Q

How are Composite Volcanoes Formed?

A

Made from andesitic lava (lower temperatures, lots of dissolved gas). Magma is sticky and cools quickly, forming steep sided volcano.

8
Q

How are Shield Volcanoes Formed?

A

Made from Basaltic lava (higher temperatures, very low gas content). Lava is runny and flows long distances before it cools, therefore forming a dome shape volcano with sloping sides.

9
Q

Where are Fold Mountains Located?

A

Destructive Plate Margin.

10
