1
Q

Active process

A

requires ATP ( energy) to transport substances across the plasma membrane

2
Q

Passive process

A

does not requires the cell to expend energy because the kinetic energy of the particles causes them to move from an area of their higher concentration to an their lower concentration.

3
Q

Concentration gradient

A

indicates there is a difference in the concentration of molecules or ions inside the cell(intracellular)compared to the outside of the cell( extracellular)

4
Q

Osmosis

A

the diffusion of water across a semipermeable membrane to equalized solute concentration

5
Q

Solvent

A

dissolving medium which is water in living organisms

6
Q

Solute

A

substance dissolved in solvent

7
Q

Crenated

A

shriveled with spiked edges

8
Q

Hemolysis

A

the breaking down of blood

lyses

9
Q

What substances were used in the lab?

A

Red 40% Sucrose solution

Distilled water

10
Q

What do you observed in the lab and why

A

Water rushed into the dialysis tubing because there was a higher solute concentration. The rushing water makes the dialysis tubing’s overall mass to increase. This change was due to osmosis.
