Great Indian Bustard

The Great Indian Bustard is one of the heaviest flying birds in the world. Dry grasslands and scrublands on the Indian subcontinent; its largest populations are found in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Lesser Florican

The Great Indian Bustard, Asian Elephant and Bengal Florican have been included in Appendix I of UN Convention on Migratory Species at the ongoing 13th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) in Gandhinagar (Gujarat).
Found in the Indian Subcontinent, the  (Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.) and terai region of Nepal.It inhabits lowland dry, or seasonally inundated, natural and semi-natural grasslands, often interspersed with scattered scrub or pat.es It has been listed as ‘Critically Endangered’ on the IUCN Red List. The bird is listed under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act of India, 1972 and Appendix I of CITES

Asian Elephant

natural home of the largest population of Asian elephants. It is also found in Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Myanmar.It usually resides in shrublands, artificial/terrestrial forests and grasslands.It is listed as ‘Endangered’ on the IUCN Red List of threatened species. It is also listed in Appendix I of  CITES andd Schedule I of the WPA, 1972.

DRDO), INS Sagardhwani, embarked on a two-month-long SAGAR MAITRI Mission-2.SAGAR MAITRI is a unique initiative of DRDO with the broad objective of “Safety And Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).         MAITRI (Marine & Allied Interdisciplinary Training and Research Initiative)” is the specific scientific component of DRDO
objectives of the SAGAR MAITRI Mission are data collection from North Indian Ocean, focussing on Andaman Sea and establishing a long-term collab IOR countries
The IOR countries, include Oman, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar.

Paramarsh’ – a University Grants Commission (UGC) scheme for Mentoring National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) Accreditation Aspirant Institutions to promote Quality Assurance in Higher Education in New Delhi today.

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued an order prohibiting the manufacture, sale and distribution of Colistin and its formulations for food-producing animals, poultry, aqua farming and animal feed supplements.The ban has been imposed under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

Ratnapani Wildlife Sanctuary

The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to declare the Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary a tiger reserve. The state received an approval for the same from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) 11 years ago.The sanctuary is spread over 890 sqkm in Bhopal-Raisen forest division of Madhya Pradesh.The sanctuary has a population of about 40 tigers

Global Innovation Index

Government of India, has launched the Global Innovation Index (GII) in New Delhi.This is the first time that the GII is being launched in an emerging economy.The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are co hosting the event.

Omega Block

Omega Block is a meteorological effect.It is a high-pressure pattern that blocks and diverts the jet stream, allowing a mass of hot air to flow up from northern Africa and the Iberian peninsula.An omega an area of high pressure which remains stationary for a prolonged period.It gets its name from the way that the jet stream bends around the high and the lows on either side of it, forming a shape resembling the Greek letter omega – Ω.
