How to work out intervals

A
  1. Count the letter names to find the interval number
  2. Remove any accidentals from the lower note
  3. Write out the major scale
  4. Add/subtract semitones one at a time until you get the actual notes
  5. Add the interval quality

Interval qualities

A

0: major (2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th) or perfect (unison, 4th, 5th, octave)
+1: augmented
-1: minor (2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th) or diminished (unison, 4th, 5th, octave)
-2: diminished
