Interaction Of Limiting Factors Flashcards
1
Q
Why are they called limiting factors?
A
As if you increase one, the rate will increase however after a point it will stop increasing as there isn’t enough of the other factors, ie. Carbon dioxide
2
Q
How can you investigate the rate of photosynthesis?
A
- Using Elodea (pondweed)
- The volume of oxygen given off per minute is the measure of photosynthesis
- Measure photosynthesis by counting the number of bubbles produced per minute
3
Q
What is the ‘Inverse Square Law’?
A
- Relative Light Intensity=1/distance from light source2 (squared as in small 2 in the corner as in 7 squared is 49)
- No unit of measurement for relative light intensity
4
Q
How can you test the light intensity?
A
Place a light at different distance from the Elodea
5
Q
How to test the affect Carbon dioxide has on photosynthesis?
A
Add different masses of potassium hydrogen carbonate powder to water (releases Carbon dioxide)
6
Q
How to test the affect temperature has on photosynthesis?
A
Place the apparatus in water baths at different temperatures
