Define a pest “population”

A

Group of interbreeding individuals more or less separated from other individuals by time and space

What structural pests are most likely to form pesticide resistance?

A

cockroaches, house flies, bed bugs, fleas

What characteristics generally lead to pesticide resistance?

A

Non-social species that produce lots of offspring, have multiple generations per year, and are isolated enough so that most of the individuals in a population are exposed to insecticide pressure.

Do different botanical insecticides have the same MOA? list 2 examples of botanicals.

A

No. Nicotine and Pyrethrin. They are both botanicals but have different MOAs. Nicotine blocks the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in nerves. Pyrethrin affect the sodium channels in nerve axons.
