The subcutaneous tissue below the dermis.
The amount of fluid for subcutaneous injection?
No more than 2 mL
Injection sites for subcutaneous injections?
Fatty tissue of abdomen, lateral and posterior aspects of upper arm, and thigh, scapular area of back, upper ventrodorsal gluteal areas.
Appropriate needle for subcutaneous injections?
0.5-3.0mL syringe with 23-29 gauge, 3/8-5/8 inch.
The location for intramuscular injections?
Directly into the muscle
The amount of fluid for intramuscular injections?
Limited to choice of muscle and age of the patient.
*Muscles for IM injection: Give amount, Gauge, Length* Ventrogluteal Injection?
Preferred for people >7 months of age, 18-23 gauge, 1-1.5 inch.
