1

What is the origin of the SCM?

Mastoid process, lateral 1/3 of the superior nuchal line

2

What is the insertion of the SCM?

Manubrium and medial 1/3 of the clavicle

3

What innervates the SCM?

Spinal part of CN XI and ventral rami of C2/C3

4

What action does the SCM carry out?

Tilts the head towards the shoulder on the same side and rotates the head to the contralateral side

5

What is the origin of the trapezius?

Medial 1/3 of the superior nuchal line, EOP, Ligamentum Nuchae, Spinous process of C7 and all thoracic vertebrae

6

What is the insertion of the trapezius?

Lateral 1/3 of the clavicle, acromion, and spin of the scapula

7

What is the innervation of the trapezius?

Spinal part of CN XI and C3/C4

8

What action does the trapezius carry out?

Shrugs the shoulders, retracts and rotates the scapula

9

Where does the latissimus dorsi originate?

Thoracolumbar fascia, spinous process of the lower thoracic and lumbar vertebrae

10

Where does the latissimus dorsi insert into?

Floor of the bicipital groove

11

What innervates the latissimus dorsi?

Thoracodorsal nerve (C6-8)

12

What actions does the latissimus dorsi carry out?

Adducts, extends, and medially rotates the arm

13

What is the origin of the levator scapulae?

Transverse processes of C1/C2, Posterior tubercles of C3/C4

14

What is the insertion of the levator scapulae?

Superior angle of the scapula to the rood of the spine of the scapula

15

What is the innervation of the levator scapulae?

Dorsal Scapular Never C5

16

What is the action of the levator scapulae?

Elevate the scapula

17

What is the origin of the scalenus anterior?

Anterior tubercles of the transverse processes of C3-6

18

What is the insertion of the scalenus anterior?

Scalene tubercle of the first rib

19

What is the innervation of the scalenus anterior?

C4-6 anterior rami

20

What is the action of the scalenus anterior?

Ipsilateral lateral flexion of the neck

21

What is the origin of the scalenus medius?

Posterior tubercles of the transvers processes of C2-C6

22

Where does the scalenus medius insert?

Upper aspect of rib 1 between the groove for the subclavian artery and the tubercle

23

What is the innervation of the scalenus medius?

C3-C7 anterior rami

24

What is the action of the scalenus medius?

Ipsilateral flexion of the neck

25

What is the origin of the serratus anterior?

Lateral aspect of the upper 8 ribs

26

What is the insertion of the serratus anterior?

The medial aspect of the inferior surface of the scapula

27

What is the innervation of the serratus anterior?

Long Thoracic Nerve C5-7

28

What is the action of the serratus anterior?

Draws the scapula forward and rotates it

29

What is the origin of the deltoid?

Lateral 1/3 of the clavicle, acromion and spine of scapula

30

What is the insertion of the deltoid?

Deltoid tubercle of the humerus
