3
Q

Which items are found on the hydraulic Standby System?

A

Rudder
Reversers

LED (extend only)

Stby Yaw Damper

4
Q

What does hydraulic quantity “RF” indicate and when is it valid?

A

Refill (quantity

5
Q

What happens when engine hydraulic pump switches are positioned to OFF?

A

Energizes blocking valve to block pump output (shuts off fluid after the pump)

6
Q

What happens to hydraulics when an engine fire switch is pulled?

A

Closes Hydraulic Fluid Shutoff Valve (shuts off fluid before the pump)

7
Q

What happens if there is a leak in the System A engine-driven pump or related lines?

A

Standpipe saves 20% of fluid for use by System A electric pump

8
Q

What happens if there is a leak in the System A electric pump or related lines?

A

Quantity decreases to zero – system lost

9
Q

What happens if there is a leak in the System B (either pump) or related lines?

A

Quantity decreases to zero – system lost, but standpipe saves enough fluid for PTU operation

10
Q

What happens if there is a leak in the System B (either pump) or related lines?

A

Quantity decreases to zero – system lost, but standpipe saves enough fluid for PTU operation

11
Q

What is the purpose of the PTU?

A

If System B engine-driven pump lost, uses System A pressure to power a hydraulic motor-driven pump (PTU) to pressurize System B fluid for normal-rate operation of the LEDs (and autoslats)

12
Q

When does the PTU operate?

A
  • Airborne, and
  • System B engine-driven pump pressure below limits, and
  • Flaps less than 15° but not up (i.e. at 1°, 2°, 5° or 10°) (3LC> Flaps not up)
13
Q

What is the purpose of the LGTU?

A

If System A engine-driven pump lost, uses System B pressure to supply fluid volume needed for normal-rate retraction of landing gear

14
Q

When does the LGTU operate?

A
  • Airborne, and
  • No. 1 Engine RPM drops below limits, and
  • Gear Lever UP but either main gear not up and locked
15
Q

What happens when either FLIGHT CONTROL Switch in STBY RUD?

A
  • Closes Flight Control Shutoff Valve (isolating ail/elev/rud from assoc sys press)
  • Opens Standby Rudder Shutoff Valve
  • Activates Standby Pump (allowing Stby Sys to power rudder & reversers)
  • Lights – deactivates assoc Flt Cont LOW PRESSURE Light, and illuminates STBY RUD ON, M/C and FLT CONT System Annun Lights
16
Q

What happens when ALTERNATE FLAPS Master Switch in ARM?

A
  • Closes TE Flap Bypass Valve
  • Activates Standby Pump (allowing Stby Sys to power LEDs + reversers)
  • Arms ALTERNATE FLAPS Position Switch
17
Q

What happens when ALTERNATE FLAPS Master Switch in ARM?

A
  • Closes TE Flap Bypass Valve
  • Activates Standby Pump (allowing Stby Sys to power LEDs + reversers)
  • Arms ALTERNATE FLAPS Position Switch
18
Q

When is the Standby System automatically activated?

A
  • Airborne or at least 60K wheel speed, and
  • Flaps extended, and
  • FLT CONTROL Switch ON (A or B), and System A or B lost

or

• Main Rudder PCU FFM trips

19
Q

When is the Standby System automatically activated?

A
  • Airborne or at least 60K wheel speed, and
  • Flaps extended, and
  • FLT CONTROL Switch ON (A or B), and System A or B lost

or

• Main Rudder PCU FFM trips

20
Q

What happens when the Standby System is automatically activated?

A
  • Opens Standby Rudder Shutoff Valve
  • Activates Standby Pump (allowing Stby Sys to power rudder & reversers)
  • Lights – illuminates STBY RUD ON, M/C and FLT CONT System Annun Lights
21
Q

What happens when the Standby System is automatically activated?

A
  • Opens Standby Rudder Shutoff Valve

  • Lights – illuminates STBY RUD ON, M/C and FLT CONT System Annun Lights
22
Q

When does the STANDBY HYD LOW QUANTITY Light illuminate?

A

When reservoir 1⁄2 full

23
