Q

Correct order to start building fire pumps using control panel?

A

1 close knife switch to on position
2 close circuit breaker and power on light will glow

Q

Where do cfrd and fast unit stage at HRFP office buildings vs HRFP Mds?

A

At HRFP office buildings they will stage at the fire sector which is most likely the floor below the fire ; conditions permitting.

At HRFP mds if the fire is ABOVE the 6th floor then they will stage at the fire sector usually the floor below the fire floor. If fire on the 6th floor or below go where IC wants u to go.

Q

Can 2nd line be used on floor above at HR office buildings?

A
No, it must be used to:
reinforce first line
Protect first line
Protect search and evac of fire floor
Contain and confine fire spread and/or prevent fire from wrapping around the core and endangering ops of first line

Note: line can go to floor above at HRFPMDs

Q

Who searches attack stairs in HRFP office buildings ?

A

3rd truck searches and evacuates floor above as we’ll as the attack stairway for A REASONABLE distance above the fire floor.

16
Q

If height of fire floor requires pressure in excess of 250 psi, who can order higher pressures?

A

The IC if the following conditions are followed:

  • everyone stands clear 50 ft on both sides of the hose line (3” special high pressure hose must ..)
  • utilize warning tape, stanchions or utility ropes
  • B.C. Designated as high pressure group Supv shall control this op
  • audible alert to members, civilians
  • supply line secured to substantial object with UTILITY rope
  • only special high pressure fittings may be used They are painted white and are noticeably heavier
  • maintain 50 ft around engine in all directions
17
Q

When the fire is above the 50th floor (400 psi) or the building water supply is unsatisfactory, it may be necessary to use the third stage of the high pressure engine. Who can order this?

A

Only the IC. ECCS of high pressure engines must ensure that TETHER security ropes are in place prior to activating the third stage of the pump
Note: engine ops ch 9 states only IC who is a chief officer can order 3rd stage

18
Q

8.3.1 E. 4

Who selects attack stairway at a HROB?

A

1st Ladder will select the attack stairway with a standpipe that will provide the best attack on the fire
Note: At high rise FPMD, first due engine consults with first due truck to decide which will be the Attack stairway. The stairway need not be one with a standpipe outlet
Note at LRFPMD w/ 2 enclosed stairs, truck off chooses and notifies engine boss, IC
