  • Helped many countries develop and implement laws that criminalise wartime rape - helped countries devise programs which assist victims to rebuild their lives + provide training for police officer and judges to be better equipped to address such crimes
  • Invested $15 billion since 1978 to help 430 million men and women grow + sell food

  • Powerful militaries can just ignore UN - unable to prevent the invasion of Vietnam and Nuclear profialtion
  • Double standards, support human rights but doesn’t infringe on UAE and Saudia Arabia
  • Each security council member has the right to vote on any proposal concerning peacekeeping, a single member can scupper the entire peacekeeping process

Should there be a global governance

A

YES

Immediately better equipped than any other organisation to deliver humanitarian aid, reduce poverty and raise the welfare of LEDC citizens

Although global governance is trailed by unequal and shifting power, with some countries looked upon more favourably than others, this is outweighed by the amount of goodwill the UN does
