1
Q

With tanks full, and all pumps on, which tanks are feeding the engines initially?

A

From the centre tank or the inner wing tanks to the engines.

2
Q

What causes, before T/O, the CTR pumps to automatically shutdown? And when do the CTR pumps resume operation?

A
  • When slats are extended, 2 mints after engine start (T/O memo), inner tanks are full.
  • When the slats are retracted. And when 500kgs used from the wing (inner) tanks.
3
Q

How many transfer valves are there? When do they open?

A
  • Two electrical transfer valves are mounted in each wings to permit fuel transfer form outer to inner tank.
  • Automatically opens when inner tank low (750kgs).
4
Q

When do the transfer valves close?

A

They will automatically close cut the next refuelling operation.

5
Q

How are the IDG (Integrated Drive Generator) cooled?

A

Some of the fuel supplied to each engine goes from the HP fuel line in that engine, through the IDG heat exchanger, to the fuel return valve and to the outer fuel tanks.

6
Q

How is space made, in the wing tanks, to receive fuel from the IDG cooling system when the CTR tank is not empty?

A

If the outer tank is full, the fuel overflows to the inner tank through a spill pipe. If the centre tank is feeding, the wing tanks tend to overfill and the system auto turn off CTR TK PUMP when inner tank is fuel. Re-open when inner tank fuel has been used approximately 500kg.

7
Q

What causes a FAULT light to illuminate in the MODE SEL switch?

A

Amber light, ECAM caution comes on when centre tank has more than 250kg of fuel, and the left or right wing tank has less than 5000kg.

8
Q

What happens when the refuelling TEST switch is pressed.

A

HI LVL: HI LVL lights come on if high level sensors and associated circuits are serviceable.
LTS: lights on panel and all 8’s on FQI and preselector come on.

9
Q

What is indicated on the SD, by a fuel pump indication of cross-line (green)?

A

Pump contractor is off, and auto shut-off is required. (pump off + selected off)

10
Q

On the SD what is indicated by a tank fuel quantity indication being boxed amber?

A

Outer tank: both transfer valve fail to open when inner tank is at low level. (Inner tanks can be gravity feed).
Centre tank: both centre tank pumps are failed, or are switched off. (Centre tanks cannot be gravity feed).

11
Q

The amber line through last two digits the fuel quantity indicated what?

A

The FQI is inaccurate.

12
Q

When does the fuel used indication reset to zero?

A

It is automatically reset, when the engine, is started on the ground.

13
Q

What causes a fuel tank temperature indication to go amber?

A

If the temperature is >45 degrees for the inner cell, >55 degrees for the outer cell or <-40 degrees.

14
Q

What is indicated by a half-box (amber) on the FUEL quantity on the EWD and SD?

A

Part of the fuel is unusable (inter-cell transfer valve failure or loss of centre tank pumps).

15
Q

REFUELG on the EWD means what?

A

REFUELG appears in green, when the door of the refuel control panel on the fuselage or on the wing is open.

16
Q

What does CTR TK FEEDG mean on the EWD?

A

In green, if at least one centre tank pump is energized.

17
Q

What is indicated by OUTER TK FUEL XFRD on the EWD?

A
  • In green if at least one transfer valve is open in own wing tank (1 out of 4).
  • All 4 should open, if both in the same wing fail to open, then an ECAM warning comes up.
18
Q

What is the minimum fuel quantity for take-off?

A

1500kg, and no wing tank low-level warning
