Flashcards in Fuel Deck (41)
Where is the fuel stored?
In the two main wing tanks and one center tank
How are the fuel tanks normally vented?
Vented to the atmosphere via two NACA scoop vents located underneath the wing near the trailing edge between the flap segments
How are fuel system faults annunciated?
Switch lights on the overhead fuel panel
On the EICAS in the form of messages
What is used to provide the fuel system computer with fuel quantity information?
* Six fuel quantity probes with compensator units in each of the main tanks
* Three probes in the center tank
* Aircraft Attitude information from the AHRS/IRS
How may the fuel level be manually checked on the ground?
By means of magnetic level indicators( MLI)
What happens if the active channel fails on the fuel computer system?
The fuel computer is dual channel, the redundant channel will take over
What are the different types of Ejector Pumps?
What type of Ejector Pump is used to move fuel from the main tanks to the collector tanks?
What type of ejector pump is used to move fuel from the center tank to the main wing tanks?
What type of ejector transfers fuel from the collector tanks to the engines?
What maintains fuel symmetry between the main tanks?
Automatically controlled by the Bi-directional X flow pump
How are the collector tanks kept full?
Gravity feed lines and scavenge ejectors
What is used to back up the main ejectors?
two electric boost pumps
What are the electric boost pumps used for?
During engine starting
Can feed fuel to either engine from one collector tank
backup the main ejector pumps
From what source is the APU fuel feed supplied?
From the left collector tank via APU Fuel Pump
Where is the bulk fuel temperature taken?
Right Main Tank
How is pressure refueling and suction defueling accomplished and how is it controlled?
Accomplished through the single point refuel/defuel adapter. Controlled from the refuel/defuel control panel
If a fuel asymetry condition exists between main tanks, what visual caution message is presented on EICAS?
What fuel system information is displayed on the EICAS Primary Page?
Individual tank quantities
Total fuel quantity
Fuel flow per engine
Where can you find the total amount of fuel used?
Fuel Synoptic Page
In order to take off with more than 500 lbs of fuel in the center tank, how much fuel must be in each main wing tank?
Above 4400 lbs
For automatic pressure refueling, what does the refuel / defuel control panel permit?
* Preselection of fuel quantity desired
* Built in test feature
* Refuel / defuel shut-off-valves to close automatically if the maximum fuel level is reached
What is the flight deck indication of a high pressure fuel pump failure?
What is the maximum fuel imbalance?
300 lbs for takeoff
800 lbs for all other phases
When will the fuel system automatically begin transferring fuel?
200 lbs fuel imbalance
When are the boost pumps automatically energized?
Low pressure from the main ejectors (if the pumps are armed)
Where is the high pressure fuel pump located?
N2 accessory gearbox
What is the minimum engine fuel temperature for takeoff?
What is the Minimum Bulk Fuel Temp for take-off(Jet A)?
