1
Q

In Alternate Law, what are you commanding when you move the side stick forward and aft?

A

Load Factor (neutral equals 1.0g), (same as Normal Law, but with reduced protections)

2
Q

In Alternate Law, what are you commanding when you move the side stick left and right?

A

Direct side stick to roll control surface position relationship

3
Q

In Normal Law, what happens if both pilots move their side sticks simultaneously?

A

If both pilots move their sticks simultaneously, the inputs are algebraically summed (Limited to the maximum defection of a single side stick)

4
Q

What is required to lockout a faulty side stick?

A

Pressing and holding the priority takeover pb for 40 seconds locks out the other side stick

5
Q

With a side stick locked out, is an autopilot available?

A

Yes

6
Q

The ELACs control which functions?

A

Elevator Aileron Computer (functions include listed controls and horizontal stabilizer control)

  • Normal Elevator
  • Aileron
  • Horizontal Stabilizer
7
Q

The SECs control which functions?

A

Spoiler Elevator Computer (functions include listed controls and horizontal stabilizer control)

  • Spoiler
  • Standby Elevator
  • Horizontal Stabilizer
8
Q

The FACs control which functions?

A

Flight Augmentation Computer:

  • Electrical Rudder Control
  • Flight Envelope functions
  • Low level energy warning
  • Windshear detection
9
Q

What does a white OFF light indicate when associated with a ELAC, SEC, or FAC?

A

Computer is deactivated

10
Q

During manual flight, you notice on the ground the glare shield these two lights flashing. (green CAPT and green F/O) What does this indicate?

A

Dual Input - both side sticks are being used simultaneously and aural “DUAL INPUT” warning

11
Q

If both pilots are pulling back slightly on their sticks, what is the response of the aircraft?

A

A more pronounced pitch up since the inputs are algebraically summed

12
Q

Both pilots should not make control inputs at the same time. If a pilot needs to takeover the controls what should be done to prevent dual input?

A

Press and hold the Auto-Pilot Disconnect/Takeover button

13
Q

If a pilot needs to takeover the controls what should be done to prevent dual input?

A

Press and hold the Auto-Pilot Disconnect/Takeover button

14
Q

During manual flight, you see the indications below and hear the aural alert “PRIORITY RIGHT.” What does this mean?
(Red right arrow on CAPT glare shied and green F/O on F/O glare shield)
To lock out the CA’s side stick, how long must the F/O hold the takeover pb?

A

The FO is holding the takeover pushbutton and inputs are being commanded on the CA’s side stick - would be accompanied by the aural “PRIORITY RIGHT”

40 Seconds

15
Q

Can the AP be engaged after a side stick is locked out?

A

Yes

16
Q

With a side stick locked out, can the associated AP be engaged?

A

Yes, the takeover-side AP is available

17
Q

What do these green marks indicate?

A

Bank angle limit in normal law

18
Q

Can you exceed the g-load (load factor) protections in Normal Law?

A

No

19
Q

Can the aircraft stall in Alternate Law?

A

Yes

20
Q

Is Load Factor protection available in Alternate Law?

A

Yes

21
Q

Is Auto Trimming available in Alternate Law?

A

Yes

22
Q

In Alternate Law after lowering the landing gear, the PFD displays this message… What has occurred?

A

Reversion to Direct Law

23
Q

If the speed brake handle is armed, what is required to activate the Ground Spoilers during a rejected takeoff?

A

Speed > 72kts, both Thrust Levers at or near Idle, or if handle is NOT armed: speed > 72kts, with at least one thrust lever in reverse and other thrust lever at or near idle

24
Q

With the AP ON, what maximum speed brake is available…

  • On the A320
  • On the A321
A
  • On the A320
    • Half
  • On the A321
    • Full
25
Q

List at least two conditions in which the Speed Brakes will automatically retract?

A
  • In flight, Flaps FULL for A320 (Flaps 3 and FULL for A321)
  • Alpha Prot
  • TOGA Thrust selected
26
Q

Speed Brakes are inhibited (and will auto-retract if extended) in relation to what Flap position…

  • For the A320
  • For the A321
A
  • For the A320
    • Full
  • For the A321
    • 3 or Full
27
Q

In Normal Law what occurs as the aircraft slows to Alpha Protection?

A
  • AOA Protection becomes active, and:
    • A- autopilot disconnects
    • S- speed brakes retract
    • A- side stick behavior changes from load-factor demand to AOA proportional to side stick deflection
    • P- pitch trim (nose up) inhibited
28
Q
  • What flight control law is represented by the indications shown on the airspeed tape?
  • If the speed brakes are extended, what will occur if airspeed decreases below the speed shown by the arrow (inside the yellow and black arc)?
A
  • Normal Law

- Speed brakes auto retract at Alpha Prot

29
Q

What protection occurs at a predetermined angle of attack between Alpha Prot and Alpha Max?

A

Alpha Floor protection engages. Autothrust provides TOGA thrust regardless of thrust lever position provided Autothrust is available/ operable. Although Alpha Floor can engage at any airspeed, it will certainly engage between A Prot and A Max

30
Q

What does Alpha Max represent?

A

The speed corresponding to the maximum angle of attack that the aircraft can obtain in Normal Law

31
Q

If the side stick is held full aft, will Alpha Max be exceeded?

A

No, Alpha Max cannot be exceeded even if the side stick is pulled and held fully back

32
Q

If the side stick is held full aft, will the aircraft enter a stall?

A

No, Alpha Max cannot be exceeded even if the side stick is pulled and held back. (Barring extraordinary circumstances, such as extreme environmental conditions).
