Atman: an individuals soul
Ashima: peace; no fighting
Caste System: the different levels of society; Brahmin: mouth: priests and teachers, Kshatriyas: arm: soldiers and leaders, Vaisyas: legs/thighs: farmers and herders, Sudra: feet: servants, Untouchables: below all: sewer cleaners and garbage men; If you were good in your past life you move up in the system and the goal is to achieve Brahman

Four Noble Truths: 1. All life involves suffering, 2. This suffering is the cause of all the pain in people’s lives, 3. Suffering ends when all desires end, and 4. The cure for suffering and the way to enlightenment is to follow the Eightfold Path

Buddha: the God figure of Buddhism; formerly known as Siddhartha Gautama he was a King in the Vaishya caste who despised the Caste system and went to meditate under a tree for 7 days and started preaching to the masses

Jainism: Ascetics (people who strive to refrain from worldly pleasures and focus on discipline), believe all men and women are equal, focus on Ashima, strict vegetarians, believe the path to Nirvana involves the extermination of one’s soul, follow something similar to the 10 commandments
