1
Q

What is the aim?

A

To collect and understand how opinions in regards to fracking change with distance away from the fracking site

2
Q

What is the hypothesis?

A

With distance away from the fracking site, so does positivity towards fracking.

3
Q

How would you describe our hypothesis?

A

Quantitated based

4
Q

Outline the justification for a hypothesis

A

1) Measurable
2) Specific
3) Contextual to the area
4) Easy to understand and assess if it is a success/failure

7
Q

What type of sampling will you use?

A

Stratified sampling

8
Q

What area are you going to survey?

A

We will be gathering opinions from people that live within 10km of the proposed fracking site. This means that we are constructing a 400km2 area around the site. However, the first question is where they live within a radius of 10km of the site

9
Q

What is the justification for the grid choice that overlaps the area that will be represented in the survey?

A

It’s an easier method to adopt and it allows for us to obtain results from people that may not be at home but still live within a 10km radius of the site

10
Q

What percentage of the population will be survey per kilometre squared?

A

25%

11
Q

What are the three times that the questionnaire will be asked upon the residents?

A

8 o’clock to 10 o’clock, 12 o’clock to 2 o’clock, 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock

12
Q

Outline the plan for our pilot survey and the importance of it

A

We plan to carry out a pilot survey that surveys 5% of the population per kilometre squared. It will assess the efficiency and effectiveness of our initial questions and therefore whether they are suitable it will also consist of an open answer question that will allow for sampling units to outline the specific concerns of the area. If a particular answer in the open answer question because more than a specific amount that will be used in the main survey.

13
Q

What do the chosen times represent in terms of social culture?

A

Morning rush hour, lunch, evening rush hour

18
Q

What are the proposed regions for the first question which relates to distance away from the proposed tracking site?

A

(0–1), (1–3), (3–6), (6–10)

19
Q

Outline the justification for the questions which relate to personal welfare and investment of the Fylde.

A

They can be related back to you other questions that look that age occupational status, income and distance to allow trends and conclusions to be drawn that may support us in our hypotheses. This allows for action to be taken relating specifically to certain people

20
Q

What are the proposed groups for the question which relates to sampling units age?

A

(0–17), (18–28), (29–40), (41–60), (60+)

21
Q

What are the proposed options for the question which relates to occupational status?

A

Student, employed, unemployed, retired

22
Q

What are the proposed groups for the question which relates to annual income?

A

(0–£11,000), (£11,000-£21,000), (£21,000 – £31,000), (£31,000-£60,000), (£60,000 plus)

23
Q

What are the proposed options for the question which relates to research into fracking?

A

(0-1), (1–3), (3–6), (6–10), 10+

24
Q

In what way will the data be represented?

A

A middle pie chart which has data relating to the final question and from there two proportional pie charts that represent the amount of yes and no of which they will be divided into the specific locations that were given as part of the first part of the questionnaire

25
Q

What is statistical test do we plan to use in confirming our data?

A

Chi – squared

26
Q

What is the justification for close answer questions

A

They allow for statistical analysis and data representation

27
Q

What are some of the topics which are raised through out the questionnaire

A

Economic impact upon Fylde, Fylde’s investment need, impact on personal welfare, impact of royalties, attempts to mitigate water contamination and seismic hazards

29
Q

What is the final question on the questionnaire

A

Are they in favour or against the proposed fracking
