1

What are fertilisers essential for?

The grow of crops

2

What are the two different types of fertiliser?

Natural
Man-made

3

What are the three main nutrients of healthy plant growth?

Nitrogen
Phosphorus
Potassium

4

What is an example of a natural fertiliser?

Animal Waste

5

What is Ammonia?

Ammonia is an extremely important chemical which can be used as a fertiliser

6

What can Ammonia be used to make?

Other Fertilisers

7

What does the Haber process manufacture?

Ammonia

8

How does the Haber process work?

We collect nitrogen from the air and add it to Hydrogen. They are then heated at 400 degrees with and iron catalyst at a pressure of 200 atmospheres

9

Some say that the Haber process is uneconomical. Why is this?

Only around 15% Ammonia is produced

10

What is done to ensure that the process is more economical?

The left over Nitrogen and Hydrogen is plugged back into the reaction chamber to be reused

11

What is the last step of the Haber process?

Cooling the Ammonia down to a liquid
