Exhaust Systems Flashcards

1
Q

Exhaust gases are ducted outside of engine.

Main drawback was that in a sideslip, cold air would be forced back into stack. This could lead to the exhaust valves to crack when exposed to this cold air.

Q

Exhaust System maintenance:

A

Use of galvanized or zinc coated tools and lead pencils on stainless steel exhaust will result in premature failure due to their reaction with the metal.

Coated and treated exhaust components should not be sand blasted as this will remove protective coatings.

Always follow MANUFACTURER’s instructions
