Q

whats the difference between an absolute and relative reference?

A

if the cell reference has $ signs in front of the row and column designation, it is considered an absolute reference and the cell reference remains unchanged throughout all copy/paste operations e.g $B$10

a relative reference, on the other hand, adjusts during the copy operations and is specified without the $ signs
