UltraRadiac use. What is the STAY TIME ? How do we see this on the display ?

Stay Time is the number of **MINUTES**
you can stay in an area without exceeding the High Dose
threshold. The Stay Time will change as the dose rate in the area
changes and the accumulated dose increases.

• Press DOSE key to see the accumulated dose (the word DOSE is at the top right of
the screen).

Clearing the Accumulated Dose
• Press DOSE key to see the accumulated dose.
• Press and hold DOSE + CLR/TEST keys.
• The display will flash for a few seconds; then clear the accumulated dose.
• To return to the Rate Mode, press the RATE key.
Note: The accumulated dose is NOT cleared on the UltraRadiac when it is turned off

Source Finder Mode allows unit to locate an isolated source by using an audible sound.
The unit will start clicking if near radioactive material. As the user moves closer to the
radiation, the unit will click faster. Aim bottom of unit at the suspected source of radiation.

Sleep Mode
• DO NOT place the UltraRadiac in sleep mode.
• The UltraRadiac is in sleep mode if the SLEEP indicator is on at the top of the
display.
If this condition is found how do we exit Sleep mode ?

• To exit Sleep Mode, press and hold the ON/OFF key until UltraRadiac starts cycling
through the 0-4 startup sequence.

The low rate alarm on the UltraRadiac has just went off. How Do we acknowledge the Alarm?
What happens when doing so ?

• To acknowledge the low rate alarm: 2mr/hr
o Press CLR/TEST key to acknowledge the alarm and turn OFF vibrator **AND** audio
alarm.
o The green light and the RATE / ALARM indicators will continue to flash slowly
as long as the rate remains above the Low Rate Alarm threshold.

The High rate alarm on the UltraRadiac has just went off. How Do we acknowledge the Alarm?
What happens when doing so ?

• To acknowledge the high rate alarm: 50 R/hr
o Press the CLR/TEST key to acknowledge the alarm and turn OFF the VIBRATOR.
o The RED light and the ENTIRE display will continue to flash and the AUDIO continue
to sound as long as the rate remains above the High Rate Alarm threshold.

o When rate falls below High Rate threshold, press the CLR/TEST key (AGAIN!!) to turn off
the flashing red light, flashing RATE /ALARM indicators and audio alarm.
(Will now be in Low Rate Alarm)

o Press the CLR/TEST key to acknowledge the alarm and turn off the vibrator **AND** audio alarm.
o The green light and the ALARM indicator will continue to flash slowly.
Note: The green light and the ALARM indicator can be turned off by clearing the
accumulated dose. This will NOT be done at a radiological incident or emergency
until the accumulated dose is recorded **OR** when ordered by the Incident
Commander

What happens when doing so

To acknowledge the high dose alarm: 50 R

and the audio alarm will continue to sound.
Note: The red light and the DOSE / ALARM indicators can be turned off by clearing the
accumulated dose. This will NOT be done at a radiological incident or emergency
until the accumulated dose is **RECORDED** OR when ordered by the Incident
Commander.

How do we know when to change the batteries on the UltraRadiac ? What are the 3 indicators ?

Battery Life Indicators
• If a blinking b is displayed, the unit has stopped functioning
• If a blinking BAT is seen in the TOP-LEFT corner of the display, the unit’s batteries have
**10 hours or less ** of useful life.
• If the display is blank, the batteries are dead.

How can we check the remaining battery life on the UltraRadiac ? How is it displayed ?

Remaining Battery Life
• In the **RATE Mode** WITH the BAT indicator blinking, press the CLR/TEST key.
A **THREE** digit number indicating the approximate remaining battery life, in **MINUTES** will be displayed.

Clean dust, moisture and dirt from the outside surface with a clean soft cloth. Wash
with mild solution of detergent and water.
• Inspect the battery compartment’s door gasket.
• Inspect the battery contacts for corrosion.
• Perform Operational Test.
