UltraRadiac use. What is the STAY TIME ? How do we see this on the display ?

A

Stay Time is the number of MINUTES
you can stay in an area without exceeding the High Dose
threshold. The Stay Time will change as the dose rate in the area
changes and the accumulated dose increases.

Note: The accumulated dose is NOT cleared on the UltraRadiac when it is turned off

The unit will start clicking if near radioactive material. As the user moves closer to the
radiation, the unit will click faster. Aim bottom of unit at the suspected source of radiation.

• To exit Sleep Mode, press and hold the ON/OFF key until UltraRadiac starts cycling
through the 0-4 startup sequence.

What happens when doing so ?

A

• To acknowledge the low rate alarm: 2mr/hr
o Press CLR/TEST key to acknowledge the alarm and turn OFF vibrator AND audio
alarm.
o The green light and the RATE / ALARM indicators will continue to flash slowly
as long as the rate remains above the Low Rate Alarm threshold.

The High rate alarm on the UltraRadiac has just went off. How Do we acknowledge the Alarm?
What happens when doing so ?

A

• To acknowledge the high rate alarm: 50 R/hr
o Press the CLR/TEST key to acknowledge the alarm and turn OFF the VIBRATOR.
o The RED light and the ENTIRE display will continue to flash and the AUDIO continue
to sound as long as the rate remains above the High Rate Alarm threshold.

o When rate falls below High Rate threshold, press the CLR/TEST key (AGAIN!!) to turn off
the flashing red light, flashing RATE /ALARM indicators and audio alarm.
(Will now be in Low Rate Alarm)

How do we know when to change the batteries on the UltraRadiac ? What are the 3 indicators ?

Battery Life Indicators
• If a blinking b is displayed, the unit has stopped functioning
• If a blinking BAT is seen in the TOP-LEFT corner of the display, the unit’s batteries have
**10 hours or less ** of useful life.
• If the display is blank, the batteries are dead.

• In the RATE Mode WITH the BAT indicator blinking, press the CLR/TEST key.
