1

What parameters are monitored during autostart?

EGT, N2 and N3 RPM and other parameters until engine reaches idle speed.

2

Can the engines be manually started?

No

3

How many start attempts are made for an in flight start?

No limit in the air.

4

How many attempts with the autostart will the system make on the ground?

2 start attempts.

5

What two modes does the EEC provide?

Normal and Alternate

6

What protection is lost when the EEC is in alternate mode?

Thrust protection. Thrust overboost can occur with the thrust levers in the full forward position.

7

When do the EEC's set approach idle in flight?

-Flaps commanded to 25 or greater, or
-Landing gear selected down

8

What mark on the N2 gauge indicates the RPM where the engine can maintain self-sustained running operation?

Green mark, Idle target indication

9

For how long is the "RUNNING" indication displayed?

30 seconds after engine reaches idle.

10

What condition creates the AUTORELIGHT mode?

Activated whenever an engine is at or below idle with the FUEL CONTROL switch in RUN or a flameout is detected.

11

During an in-flight start, with speed below that for a windmilling start, describe the indication that is displayed if a starter assist is required?

"X-START" displayed in magenta below N2 if airspeed is below that for a windmilling start.

12

What does the fuel control switch control?

Fuel control switch controls the spar fuel valve.
It also arms the engine fuel valve and igniters for the EEC to operate.

13

If the overspeed protection fails and an overspeed condition persists, what will the EEC's command the engines to do?

EEC will command fuel shut off to that engine.

14

What alert is displayed on the HUD(green) and PFD(red) if actual thrust is less than commanded?
What is the airspeed range for this alert to be active?

"ENG FAIL"
Between 65kts and 6kts prior to V1.
Also master warning and voice "Engine Fail"

15

What protection does Thrust Control Malfunction Accommodation provide for?

Idle thrust asymmetry conditions on the ground.

16

What system provides Thrust Control Malfunction Accommodation, and how does it work?

Provided by the EEC. Commands shutdown of affected engine when:
-Airplane on the ground, and
-Thrust lever is at idle
-Engine above idle speed and not decelerating normally.

17

Is TAP available available in both EEC modes?

Thrust Asymmetry Protection available in EEC normal or alternate modes.
Flight controls must be in normal mode.

18

With TAP active, will there be a decrease in climb performance?

No. Any decreased climb performance will be due to mismanaged speed, not TAP.

19

When TAP is active, what indication will be displayed on EICAS?

As TAP reduces thrust, the maximum and commanded TPR tics move down to the reduced TAP thrust value. The reference/target TPR and thrust levers do NOT move.

20

Where is the reverser indication displayed?
What does amber and green REV indicate?

Thrust reverser indication displayed over TPR gauges on EICAS.
Amber REV indicates reverser in transit, green REV indicates reverser deployed.

21

What is the indication of TAP inoperative?

EICAS "THRUST ASYM PROT"

22

How is the reference TPR displayed?

Displayed with a green/magenta chevron symbol on the TPR gauge.

23

Why should the thrust levers be moved to the mid positions before selecting Alternate Mode on the EEC?

To prevent overboost. Alternate mode will provide same or higher thrust for the same thrust lever position.

24

What powers the thrust reversers?

Left and right hydraulic systems.

25

What indication is there on EICAS of EEC alternate mode?

EICAS "ENG EEC MODE L/R"

26

How can an exceeded EGT indication be recalled?

By pressing the CNC/RCL switch.

27

Which engine is installed and what is the thrust rating?

Trent 1000G - 63.700lbs
Trent 1000J - 74.400lbs

28

When is the EGT max continuous limit indication inhibited and for how long?

Inhibited on takeoff and go-around.
5 minute inhibit, 10 minutes for S/E operations.

29

What is the indication of an N1, N2 or EGT exceedance?

If indication reaches red line operating limit,
digital readout, dial, box and pointer changes to red.
The box will remain red after back within operating limits. Can be cancelled/recalled.

30

What powers the EEC's?

During engine start, airplane power. After engine start, PMA's.
