Q

Reverb

A

Reverb occurs when a sound hits any hard surface and reflects back to the listener at varying times and amplitudes to create a complex echo, which carries information about that physical space.

2
Q

Chorus

A

With chorus, an equal mix of the wet and dry signal is used with the wet signal being delayed and pitch modulated. The pitch is modulated using an LFO as the source and both the depth and rate are used to create varying ‘colours’ or textures of the effect. Creates a ‘shimmering’ sound.

3
Q

Phaser

A

creates a ‘sweeping’ sound through out of phase waves

4
Q

Flanger

A

creates a ‘jet like’ sound through delay

5
Q

Vibrato

A

Rapid change in pitch

6
Q

Tremolo

A

Rapid change in volume

7
Q

Delay

A

Delay is an audio signal processing technique that records an input signal to a storage medium and then plays it back after a period of time. The delayed signal may be played back multiple times, or fed back into the recording, to create the sound of a repeating, decaying echo.

8
Q

Overdrive

A

Overdrive refers to the sound made by a tube amp that’s pushed to its operating limit.

9
Q

Distortion

A

distortions work by compressing or ‘clipping’ the peaks of audio by adding large amounts of gain

10
Q

Fuzz

A

Fuzz is a particular form of extreme distortion originally created by guitarists using faulty equipment (such as a misaligned valve (tube), which has been emulated since the 1960s by a number of “fuzzbox” effects pedals.
