A

Edward became ill, northumberland feared Mary (Catholic) making England catholic

Attempted to change succession to Lady Jane Grey, little support - more for legitimate mary.

A

Northumberland planned to make Lady Jane Grey queen. She had married his son in May 1553, but Edward died in July 1553 before Parliament made the succession legal

A

Edward died too quickly

Lady Jane Grey had a weak claim compared to Mary

Mary managed to amass strong political support in Norfolk. The council made her queen in 2 days

A

Northumberland failed, was a power-drive to marry into the succession. People saw this as power hunger and were reluctant to support.
