1
Q

What is Age-related Macular Degeneration?

A

The progressive degeneration of the macula, clouding central vision.

2
Q

What are cataracts?

A

The clouding of the lens.

3
Q

What is Amblyopia?

A

Lazy eye.

4
Q

What is Anisocoria?

A

When one’s pupils are different sizes.

5
Q

What is bacterial keratitis?

A

An infection of the cornea, usually causing impaired vision, corneal discharge, light sensitivity, etc. This infection is most commonly caused by unsterile contact lens use, or injury.

6
Q

What is diabetic retinopathy?

A

When blood vessels of the retina close off, leak fluid, or change, this condition obstructs vision.

7
Q

What is Fuch’s dystrophy?

A

This disease reduces the number of endothelial cells, which process water in the cornea. This causes fluid to build up inside the cornea, clouding it’s usually crystal clear appearance.

8
Q

What is Giant Cell Arteritis?

A

GCA is the swelling of arteries, in this case supply the different cavities of the eye, causing sudden, seemingly unexplainable, painless vision loss.

9
Q

What is myopia?

A

The inability to focus on distant objects, usually caused by the eye being slightly too long, which means the sharpest image of an object is reflected in front of the retina.

10
Q

What is hypermetropia?

A

The inability to focus on nearby objects due to the eye being slightly too short, resulting in light reflecting behind the retina.

11
Q

What is glaucoma?

A

A build up of fluid in the anterior chamber, between the cornea and iris, increasing the pressure on the optic nerve. This causes damage and vision complications.
