How has the Wright Committee impacted Parliamentary debate?

- Due to implementing of the Wright Committee recommendations, MP's now have more control over the Parliamentary agenda via the Backbench Business Committee. Parliament now engages more in debates on the great issues of the day e.g wars in Syria and Iraq, London riots.


PM's and Military power

- PM's have become reluctant to initiate military action without Parliament. In recent years, Parliament has been given a chance to debate the matter e.g Cameron in 2013 giving Parliament a chance to debate military action in Syria.


One negative of current Parliamentary debate

- There is limited time for genuine debate and the whips control and curtail the independence of MP's
