SEQUENCE OF EVENTS

-Israel was at battle, David stayed behind (indulge in his passions?)
-He saw a woman washing herself, he wanted to know about her
-He then participated in sin
-Tried to cover up his sin by persuading Uriah to come back
-David restorted to murder
-lived with unconfessed sin for months until Nathan approached him
-David's sins forgiven, but there is consequences

IMMEDIATE RESULTS

-death of his firstborn
-david fasted/prayed for the child even though he knew it was going to die

LONG TERM RESULTS

-Lord will raise up evil from his own house
-give his wives to his neighbour
-Done in front of all Israel
-House will be characterized by rebellion/sin
-Ammon's incest desire, absalom kills ammon and flees
-David brings him back only to have Absalom attempt to steal the kingdom from him
-battle rose, david won, but the people resented him for it
-Kingdom split into israel and judah
-lost their confidence

MODERN DAY APPLICATION

-all sin has consequences
-sin does not only affect the person who sins
-God's grace is sufficient to cover the sins of all who call on him
