Internal factors which shape a place's character.

External factors which shape a place's character, including the relationship to other places and the flows in and out of a place.

How is location an endogenous factor that can affect place?

Places can be characterised by features that are present because of their location. 

Eg. a coastal place may be characterised by a port due to its direct proximity to the sea.

How is topography an endogenous factor that can affect place?

Directly = valley areas may be characterised by flat land etc.

Indirectly = affecting land use

How is physical geography an endogenous factor that can affect place?

Directly = eg. characterised by rock type

Indirectly = eg. economic characteristics

What is one of the most important human factors directly defining the character of places?

Land use
