A

What had started off as a Sino-Japanese war now became a situation which impacted a greater world war.

How did the USA aid China? What did this mean for the GMD?

A

Because the allies regarded China as a vital means of defeating the Japanese, they were supplied with vast resources in an effort to turn it into a base of operations. By 1945, the USA had invested over $1 billion in China.
America’s entry meant Chiang gained a tremendous military and political boost as leader.

They fought a guerrilla war.

A

The fact that Chiang was more determined with crushing the Red’s (CCP) than the Japanese.

A

The GMD’s armies often lacked the will to fight as the ferocity of the recruitment did not inspire loyalty and enthusiasm.
In addition, they had failed to gain the support and backing of the Chinese people, they had lost faith in their leaders.

A

After 15 years of struggle, Japan had finally been defeated. Chiang expected US forces to overwhelm not only the Japanese forces occupying China, but also the communist forces as well.
