Q

How would you remove residue from your client after a body treatment if you do not have a wet room?

A

Use exfoliating gloves to break up mud/seaweed and then use hot towels. Begin at the ankle and place towel so that it covers the lower portion of the clients leg. Gently press the towel to the ankle and begin pushing the towel upward with some pressure to “carry” and remove product from the skin as you work upward to the end of the towel. Once you reach the end, fold the towel in half, ensuring that the clean area of the towel are now exposed as the outer portions. Use both sides as necessary to remove any residual product. Place towel at the knee in the same fashion, covering up to the upper thigh and use the same push-pull-slide technique. 10-12 towels will be needed.

Q

How is a body wrap performed for the reduction of cellulite or hydration/purification of the skin?

A
  1. On damp skin, carry out a gommage with an exfoliating treatment or perform a dry-brushing. 2. Rinse and dry. 3. Apply contents of an anti cellulite ampoule, followed by the application of an anti cellulite cream. 4. Layer an anti=cellulite mud on the skin and leave it in place for 20 minutes, covering the area with a thermal blanket. 5. Rinse and dry. Complete with connective-tissue massage or lymphatic drainage massage, or use a pressotherapy treatment machine (depending on the severity of cellulite). You may also increase the action of the massage by choosing a camphor-based cream if the client has advanced cellulite.

Q

What material do you use for an herbal body wrap?

A

Herbed-soaked linen sheets or elastic wraps resembling ace bandages that are wrapped tightly around the body in a mummy style. Herbs can increase circulation, soothe and nourish the skin, or be diaporetic (increase circulation usually soaked in a moist heat unit for approximately 20 minutes)

15
Q
