Describe how you could separate clothing fibres from blood.

  1. Place the blood-covered fibres in water; the blood and water will make a mixture.
  2. Pass the solution through a funnel and filter paper.
  3. Fibres will remain on filter paper.
  4. Evaporate the water to leave the blood.

2

When separating sand and blood via filtration, why does the blood go through the filter paper but not the sand?

The grains of sand are too big to fit through the holes of the filter paper.

The water and blood particles are small enough to get through the filter paper.
