Role of HRM under decentralised approach

A

In a decentralised system, agreements are determined through enterprise bargaining. This has resulted in the HRM having a much larger role in employee relations. Having positive employee relations is crucial to maintaining strong relationships and achieving overall objectives. The role of the HRM includes negotiating employment agreements, implementing agreements and resolving disputes.

Negotiating agreements

A

When a new agreement needs to be created, the HRM can be I loved in the negotiation. In most cases the HR, will represent the employer in these negotiations. It is important to bargain in good faith to ensure relationships are maintained. The HRM needs to consider the needs of the employees but also the financial position of the organisation.

Implementing Agreements

A

Once an agreement has been approved by the FWC it needs to be implemented by the due date. Planning and organising are important here. Employees need to receive all pay increases by the correct dates. Managers and supervisors will need to be notified of changes to conditions and may even need to be trained on any new processes that are to be implemented.

Dispute resolution

A

If negotiations break down, employees or employers may decide to take industrial action.
The HRM will be heavily involved in resolving this dispute. Knowing employee relations legislation is important here. The HRM may seek advice from the employer association. The aim is to resolve disputes quickly to ensure employees are productive once again.
