Q

What is significant about the supra scapular notch?

A

Spanned by a transverse ligament and under passes the nerve, but over passes the vessels

2
Q

What is the radial groove continuous with?

A

The deltoid tuberosity

3
Q

Why is the shoulder highly mobile, but unstable?

A

The head of the humerus is much larger than the glenoid of the scapula

4
Q

What are the ligaments associated with the sternoclavicular joint?

A

Interclavicular, sternoclavicular (anterior) and costoclavicular ligaments

5
Q

What are the ligaments associated with the acromioclavicular joint?

A

Acromioclavicular and coracoclavicular ligaments

6
Q

What is the motion of the scapula?

A

Around vertical axis - glenoid turns anteriorly

Around horizontal axis - glenoid turns superiorly or inferiorly

7
Q

How are the movements of the scapula possible?

A

Because the scapula can slide over the posterior rib cage

8
Q

What gives the shoulder stability? (5)

A

Glenoid labrum - expands and deepens glenoid

Biceps tendon - restricts upwards motion of head of humerus

Arch of coracoid and acromion

Synovial and fibrous joint capsule membranes

Rotator cuff muscles

9
Q

Name the bursae of the shoulder and what is their function?

A

Subacromial, subdeltoid, subscapular

Fluid filled sacks reduce friction
