how does the pressure gradient come about? what happens when the atria contract? ventricles contract?

A

chamber contraction increases the pressure on fluid within, causes blood flow down its pressure gradient

  • atria contract, high blood pressure within forces AV valves to open
  • ventricles contract & pressure of blood increases which forces the SL valves to open
