What does the blood transport?
It is made up of red and white blood cells, platelets and plasma.
What is the role of red blood cells?
Red blood cells carry oxygen to the muscles where it is needed for recovery after performing exercise.
It carries carbon dioxide- which is created as a by product of energy production- away from the muscles
What is the role of white blood cells?
The job of white blood cells (also called leukocytes) is to fight infections and cancer. They also remove poison, waste and damaged cells from the body.
What is the function of Platelets?
Platelets help prevent bleeding as they stick together and to the walls of vessels and a cut forming a scab.
