Use the less flexable AZ RI as it can get you a discount but also has the capacity reserivation. Regional RI do not come with a capacity reserivation.

Yes, the account is was purchesed in get first offer and then the RI flows to the other accounts.

No, instance size has to be equal or grater in size.

What is the instance normalization factor?

A

Each instance is given a value called a normalization factor, it enables you to take instances that are smaller and say run two where you had one large one before. For example,

1 instance of c4,8xlarge I has a normalization of 64

1 instance of C4.4xlarge has a normalization factor of 32 so you cna run two again you RI.

A

No, you can only move inside the region for convertible RI’s
