What happened?
An avalanche swept down a mountainside on a closed black ski run and engulfed a school party in a popular resort in the Alps.
What happened to the teacher?
Was in a serious but not life-threatening condition with multiple injuries.
Where was the teacher airlifted too?
Grenoble University Hospital 40 miles away.
Who else where being treated in hospital?
2 other children.
Where had the victims been rescued?
From deep snow on the Bellecombe run at the Les Deux Alps resort.
When did the avalanche strike?
Just before 4pm.
What followed after the avalanche?
Heavy snow fall arriving in Alpine resorts.
What have the investigations looked into?
Why the party was on a slope that had been closed since the beginning of the season.
What was the avalanche risk?
3 on a scale of 5.
Why had the ski run not been opened?
Because it hadn’t snowed enough.
It wasn’t ski able.
Who said it the slope wasn’t ski able?
Dominique Letang head of France’s national agency of snow and avalanche studies.
What did the Grenoble prosecutor launch?
A preliminary inquiry into manslaughter.
