A

It can start the tour with one member less than minimum staffing levels while awaiting the arrival of a detail or MMOT. Officers shall notify the dispatcher at the start of the tour, whether the unit is in service or OOS.

When unit is scheduled for training the BN shall ensure that details from within the BN arrive no later than?

A

0915 and 1815. If a unit is assigned a detail from outside the BN and they have training, they shall alert their BN. If you are in a double house and are unable to comply with these guidelines, the adjoining unit shall supply the detail and leave for training at the appropriate time. The adjoining unit will await the detail.

1 mile or 20 blocks. If it is more than 1 mile from their assigned quarters they DO NOT HAVE THE OPTION OF WALKING! They can use public transportation or their private vehicles.

What does an understaffed unit transmit to dispatch when responding to alarms?

A

“We are responding Understaffed.” He shall transmit an Urgent if he is having difficulty telling this to dispatch due to heavy radio traffic.

A

They will special call another unit ( engine for engine, ladder for ladder).
Under this policy, the total First Alarm response shall not exceed
4 Engines and 4 Ladders!

A

All alarms.

A

The unit will be placed OOS, however they shall respond to verbal alarms received while in quarters.

When an understaffed unit is the only unit on the scene, what shall they do?

A

Take a defensive position. However if a known life hazard is discovered rescue activity can be taken by an individual member. ONLY FOR A KNOWN LIFE HAZARD, NOT FOR STANDARD SEARCH AND RESCUE!

A

In this order

  • An HTMU unit May detail their fifth man
  • Fifth ff from a ladder company within the division (rear mounts shall be given preference before tillers and tower ladders)
  • Fifth ff for a ladder company in another division.
  • this is only a guide and it’s up to bigwig chiefs who goes**

For details within the BN, in what order are the procedures for that detail to be transported there?

A
  1. Company receiving detail proceeds to quarters and picks the guy up
  2. If they cannot do it, then the company detailing the guy out transports him there.
  3. BN can have division van pick them up

Between Division and to other Divisions, use what’s practical, most likely Division Van.
Members always have option of driving own car.
