Q

Outline Insecure-Resistant Attachment

A

These children are seemingly highly independant and exhibit no distress when their caregiver leaves their proximity.

However they may seek attention in devious ways such as breaking items or being obnoxious to attract attention. They just don’t understand how to successfully get their needs fulfilled without going about it the kind way.

What kind of behaviours might be seen in IR children?

A
  • Seeking validation and attention through mischievous behaviours such as vandalism, swearing or violence.
  • Seeming independence and freedom from caregiver although this is a defence mechanism for their overall insecurity and lack of bonding that’s occurred.
