A

It was conducted in a lab environment.

What are the advantages of conducting the study in a lab environment?

A

Allows extraneous variables to be controlled such as light as this may affect the findings of the study.

What are the disadvantages of conducting this study in a lab environment?

A

It lacks Mundane realism as it isn’t taken place in the real world yet the aims of the study is to study the effects of conformity in unambiguous situations in the real world.

Reliability- Is Asch’s study reliable?

A

When Larsen repeated Asch’s research in 1974, he found that the results of conformity were a lot lower; this may mean that the research conducted by Asch lacks reliability.

What are the ethical issues with Asch’s study?

A

The ethical issues which may arise are that the participants didn’t know the true aims of the study and it may have caused distress to the participants. However, Asch wouldn’t of been able to find out what he did, without deceiving his participants due to the demand characteristics which would arise.
