1
Q

2017 Pierce Enforcer size compared to older quantums

A

4 feet shorter, wheelbase is 2 feet shorter

2
Q

DEF Consumption

A

2-3% of fuel consumption

3
Q

Engine Exhaust After Treatment System

A

Designed to maintain itself through periodic self-cleaning called “regeneration” or “regen”

4
Q

Passive Regen

A

Can occur during normal engine operations, driving or pumping. Requires no action by driver.

5
Q

Active Regen

A

Apparatus may active regen without action by driver. However, when needed, driver can assist by changing the duty cycle of the engine, i.e. switch to highway driving or pump conditions or initiate a parked regen.

6
Q

Exhaust temps during regen.

A

1500 degrees F

7
Q

Solid DEF indicator light

A

Between 1/4 and 1/8 full

8
Q

Flashing DEF indicator light

A

Below 1/8 full

9
Q

On the 2017 Pierce Enforcer, what does the shoreline plug do?

A

Charges the apparatus batteries, powers the plug in the officer’s rear compartment, powers the water heater for decon use.

10
Q

2017 Pierce Enforcer warm water decon system

A

Separate 18 gallon water tank above pump panel. 2 water heaters, 12v and 120v, designed to keep water tank warm 24/7.

11
Q

Transmission Fluid Temp

A

Between 140 and 220 degrees F

12
Q

ASR

A

Anti-Slip Resistance. If one wheel is off the road, spinning, ASR will apply that brake to increase torque to the other wheel allowing it to pull the apparatus out. ASR is completely automatic.

13
Q

What to do when stuck in deep mud or snow, loose dirt, or sand

A

Press the Off Road Traction Control switch. This will allow some slippage (spinning) to assist in climbing out.

14
Q

Activating on-spot chains

A

Engage when traveling 2-25 mph. Do not exceed 35 mph.

15
Q

Front Wheel Lock

A

Applies air to front brakes for additional holding.

16
Q

Minimum air in system to activate pump shift control lever

A

80 psi

17
Q

2017 Pierce Enforcer priming

A

Air primer uses brake tanks air pressure for a venturi. No fluids or oil. Priming will start when in pump gear and shut off when primed (20 psi)

18
Q

2017 Pierce Enforcer Booster Reel

A

150’ of 1 inch hose.

19
Q

2017 Pierce Enforcer Booster Reel Friction Loss

A

30 gpm = 37 psi per 50’ section, 111 psi for 150’

20
Q

How does regen work?

A

The soot build-up is removed by heating the filter until the soot oxidizes and turns into carbon dioxide gas

21
Q

Brakes on an engine

A

Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes

22
Q

RSC

A

Roll Stability Control. Senses when impending rollover conditions occur and, if detected, intervenes in the operation of the truck by automatically reducing the vehicle speed. RSC is automatic.

23
Q

Two exceptions to pumping in pressure control mode

A

Drafting and Relay pumping, to avoid conflicting governor operations resulting in oscillation and pressure spikes, only the attack engine should be in pressure mode.

24
Q

Disengage On-Spot Chains

A

Speeds of 35 mph or less (20 mph is preferred)

25
Q

Rear winch capacity of brush truck

A

12,000 lbs

26
Q

On brush truck, cut off switch will kill engine when pump pressure drops below _____

A

60 psi

27
Q

On brush truck, name safety feature to prevent pump damage when tank runs out of water

A

Power cut off switch

28
Q

On brush truck, what is the flow rate at 100 psi?

A

78 gpm
