Why do historians believe the Egyptians built the pyramids? How were they constructed?

A

The purpose of the pyramids was to serve as a tribute and home to deceased rulers. Pyramids were grand in honor of the great ruler and included many valuables to aid them in after life. The pyramids were built by thousands of less privileged classes who were manual workers.

Why did Egyptian civilization not develop large cities as in the case of Mesopotamia?

A

Large cities did not develop as they did in Mesopotamia because the Nile valley was comprised of small agricultural villages that traded with neighbors up and down the river. There were important cities such as Memphis and Heliopsis.

What was the relationship of the Pharoah to the people of Egypt. How did this relationship change in later periods?

A

Early pharaoh claimed to be living gods on Earth and therefore rulers of the land. Later pharaohs were considered sons of the sun and had some kind of human and god connection, that granted them the right to govern others.

Who was Akhenaton? What were his religious views? How did his politics damage the security of Egpyt?

A

Akhenaton ruled for seventeen years and died in 1334 or 1336 BCE, and was the father of King Tut. He relocated the capital upsetting a lot of people and inconsiderate to the people wants. He had become too invested in himself. After his death, the capital was moved back and King Tut tried to reinvent himself, to differentiate from his father.
