38
Q

40
Q

On the ECS page what does a AMBER flow line represent?

A

an Overheat condition

41
Q

Explain what transpires between low pressure and high pressure engine bleed sources

A

The AMS controller automatically selects between low and high pressure air. That is the reason we must be careful when advancing the throttle during engine start. As a result the AMS controller might select low pressure air thus losing the pressure required for engine start.

42
Q

If there is a bleed leak, overpressure or fail condition, what does the controller do?

A

It shuts down the bleed air system by closing the engine bleed valve.

43
Q

If anti ice is selected while the APU is providing bleed air, what does the AMS controller do?

A

It shuts the APU bleed valve

44
Q

Where are the Overheat Detection Zones?

A

APU Bleed
Slat anti-ice supply ducts

A

3 fans

50
Q

How many fans does the Center Electronic Bay have?

A

3 fans

51
Q

How may fans does the Aft Electronic Bay have?

A

No fans due to air flowing from the cabin

52
Q

If a fire is detected in the forward cargo bay…

A

The SOV is closed and the fan is turned off, thus preventing HALON from entering the cabin.

53
Q

Emergency Ram Air Ventilation is commanded open when?

A

If BOTH packs are failed or commanded OFF and the aircraft altitude is less than FL250

54
Q

During smoke removal, when is the Ram Air Ventilation Valve commanded OPEN??

A

When the the DUMP valve is pressed as both ECS packs are commanded OFF

55
Q

What are the RAIDs?

A

Ram Air Inlet Door

56
Q

What do the RAIDs do??

A

They modulate to optimize the quantity of ram air sent through the packs, thus decreasing drag and fuel consumption.

57
Q

The RAIDS are full open when??

A
On the ground until reaching 17,500 ft
Airplane is below 17,500 on descent
Pressure DUMP Button is activated
RAT deployed
Anti-Ice System is activated
58
Q

What does the EICAS message RAM AIR FAULT indicate?

A

In flight a RAID failure when it is more than 10% open only after landing. On the ground when the RAID failure of more than 10% open.

59
Q

What does the EICAS message PACK 1/2 FAIL indicate?

A

a RAID failure in flight when it is more than 90% closed.

60
Q

What is happening on the ground when BOTH EICAS messages PACK 1/2 FIL and RAM AIR FAULT are present?

A

A RAID failure when it is more than 90% closed

61
