Explain the significance of the digital divide

A
  • Divide in technological ability between old and young
  • Problems for employment as older people may be less comfortable using technology than the younger generation who have grown up with it
  • Less understand between old and young as much of young culture surrounds technology

Link Weber’s ideas to age inequality

A

Class - Minimum wage and fewer qualifications restrict the market positions of the young
Status - lose status because of age, status is attached to the ability to work. So older people are excluded by younger as they have less ability to work
Party - young people lack the power to make changes in their society
