3.04 - It is every member’s responsibility to read and become familiar with all rules, regulations, standard operating policies, guidelines and training bulletins, memorandums relating to the Hamilton Fire Department. Lack of knowledge of these document will not be an excuse for non-compliance, and such lack of knowledge shall constitute a neglect of duty.

What should the supervisor do if a member fails to report for duty?

18.03 Any member who reports more than 30 minutes past their scheduled hour will be considered to have
“failed to report”. This member will be allowed to go on duty however their immediate supervisor shall
forthwith send an email to the appropriate Deputy Chief and Senior Officer that identifies:
a) The name and employee number of the employee who failed to report.
b) The time that the employee reported for duty at his/her assigned workplace
c) The reason provided by the employee for his/her failure to report.
18.031 Any member who has failed to report shall have a meeting scheduled with the appropriate Deputy
Chief at the first reasonable opportunity.
