the stimulus is the contradiction between the curve and a straight line,

a celebration of the Brazilian way of life and the ability to live in the moment

choreographic approach

Itzik Galili worked collaboratively with the dancers:

Motifs were composed by improvisation of the dancers
He also set a task (choreograph a short solo with your favourite dance* moves within the boundaries of the square).
Dancers then learnt each other's solos and were knit together into a large ensemble piece.

*Galili believed this would show the dancers' personalities

lighting for the ensemble

- designed by Itzik Galili
- multi-coloured squares of light creating a checkered -board effect and defines the lines and spacing for the dancers

skateboards on which 5 dancers are propelled across stage lying on their backs

black, square box with a raised platform for the live band to stay

costume

- designed by Itzik Galili
- different brightly colored shorts and black vests with cut outs and a matching colored zipper
- made of wet look lycra to sculpt the body and show movements or lines clearly
- gender specific: men have a cut out on the front showing off their chest and women have a cut out on their back
- at the beginning men wear metallic disc-shaped collars that reflect the light

large ensemble pieces with the multicoloured square floor lights (repeated phrases in different formations dictated by the grid-like lighting)

narrative scenes with the white wash has mostly only male dancers and shows how men compete and communicate with women.

Percossa (percussion group in Holland)

- is influenced by samba music
- includes vocal sounds (in the opening scene), body percussion, fast percussion using samba rhythms and slow and atmospheric berimbau
