what is a strength of the SLT?

A

better able to explain changing gender roles in western society than a biological explanation. less difference in masculine and feminine behaviours than fifty years ago - explained by change in social explanations, can’t be explained by biologically because there want been any change in biology.

why is SLT considered to be slightly reductionist?

A

places little importance of genes and chromosomes - ignores e.g. cases like David reimer as was never happy as a girl - genes override social context.

A

biosocial theory - could explain David reimer biological and environmental factor influence gender.
