The Challenges of Learning Two Languages at Once
Some thoughts on New York startup pride
A few days ago, I received an email from Jessica Lawrence, Managing Director of New York Tech Meetup, confirming my admission into the “Made in NYC” club. I couldn’t help but chuckle at this list’s existence. There is something about New York startup pride that you just can’t seem to find anywhere else.
Indeed, nowhere is this more evident than at a New York Tech Meetup itself. Whenever a startup founder mentions in his/her demo that all of the product has been built here in the city, rather than outsourced across the country or abroad, s/he will literally receive an ovation. As I wrote about here a few months ago, New York’s energy, diversity, efficiency, convenience, and renewed focus on entrepreneurship has created what I still feel is the best startup environment the world has ever seen. I’ve pasted it below the cut, it’s likely you’ve seen it posted dozens of other places, but I wanted to give the video a home on the Brainscape blog. Enjoy! (more…)
