Hi Brainscape user,
As you know, having a strong vocabulary is critical to helping you speak more articulately (not to mention pass standardized tests), so we want to share some of our own best practices with you. Please use the tips below and feel free to add your own in the Comments section.
- BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF! - Brainscape is only effective because you give it accurate confidence ratings, so if you don’t know a word, don’t be afraid to give it a 1 or a 2. A 5 should only be given if you really don’t EVER need to see the word again in order to remember it forever.
- USE BRAINSCAPE REGULARLY – We may have optimized the speed at which you can learn words, but this does not mean you don’t need to keep working. Don’t forget to use Brainscape on the bus, during breaks, before bed, when you’re sitting on the can, or any other time you can log a quick study session.
- USE YOUR NEW WORDS IN YOUR DAILY LIFE – If you want to truly OWN that new word, you need to use it in your own speech and writing. Don’t be shy or worry about sounding pretentious.
We look forward to hearing your own tips!
